What comes of falling asleep to Bach:
Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus, Mamenchisaurus; A biology field trip to the outskirts of - not Echolalia - a bizarre Wonderland place. Ruins of coliseums and tree houses. Statues of the unsavory: an adult Peter, a poor man's dream, a Beauty. Under every bridge are yellow-eyed crocodiles. There are spiders at Grandmother's house.
To the ivy theaters I go! Cheering, waltzing, wrestling, only to be sent away again by Blair and the lost souls trapped in dolls. There's a secret place high up in the towers of the theater. I promise to free them all, some day.

oh, yes, the dinosaurs. my little cousin is over in the room imagining them up. ;) x
ReplyDeleteMy brother used to collect little replicas. xx
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young I knew all the names of the dinosaurs by heart. It felt like a foreign language on my tongue. I liked how they tasted. x
ReplyDeleteA boy I care much about actually loves Bach...
ReplyDeleteLovely, dear. Beautiful, vivid imagery. I shall like to free them with you. We can run through the streets afterwards with ribbons streaming behind us, singing a victory song. x
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting if our lives were influenced by the things we fell asleep listening to. I often fall asleep listening to Trespassers William. Hm, that actually explains a lot about my life...
ReplyDeleteThe last paragraph, particularly, is stunning. Just stunning.
ReplyDeleteyes.. someday. <3
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely post, dear!
but i'm afraid of the underwater imagery. hehe :)
Amazing. Okay, so it was really hard to choose a favorite part, but I must say that this bit moved me the most: "Statues of the unsavory: an adult Peter, a poor man's dream, a Beauty. Under every bridge are yellow-eyed crocodiles. There are spiders at Grandmother's house."
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine a grown up Peter; what's hard about it is that it would surely mean his death in some way, as exciting as it would be to imagine his as an older man (but I guess that's what "Hook" is for, right?).
MJ: That is so sweet. xx
ReplyDeleteHannah: How rare! I've yet to meet a boy like that.
Thea: Maybe some day, some day. x
Melee: I know definitely that my dreams influence the decisions I make in reality, so possibly. x
Glasspalace: Thank you!
Haze: Oh! I suppose it is a bit frightening. x
CloudyKim: Oh dear, I personally loathed Hook. The whole idea of Peter growing up ruined it for me. It was almost sacrilegious. Thank you. xx
Yes, someday...

Hopeful, and yet I still get a tingling sensation of tragedy in the back of my throat. Your words have the power to do that; to make us feel something, with undertones of another completely different emotion. Stunning writing. xxxx
ReplyDeleteI truly do believe in magic, and you have it right here in this. x
ReplyDeleteJhordyn: Me too!! Thank you lovely. <3
ReplyDeleteJoanna: Oh, thank you, I fear all my writing sounds the same. xx
Mckenzie: Thank you dear. <3 x
Time to start falling asleep to Bach then, I think :) xx
