lament of a sea geisha

Serene naiad, fleeting kelpie, insatiable mermaid; spirits of the sea always desist in Japan. Triton requests four new Guardians for a life of ever-lasting turmoil - Why oh why do we apply? Before you know it we'll be in a liquid tower, like Naminé, painting down our memories and diving into the sea-world when we want to forget about our hearts. White-faced geisha dwell in the jungle, the ocean smells of cherry blossoms; every day clockwork samurai march outside my window but every day I do not see them. It is a cursed place not meant for humans; unicorns, geisha, witch doctors but never humans. And yet, we can never leave, because the fate of the world depends on our misery (our willingness to forget).

  1. Woooooooow. So wonderful and creepy, along with such sorrow. I love how there was a strong story going on here. The way you meshed Japanese culture and images with that of the sea left me breathless.

And when you say Namine, do you mean Namine from Kingdom Hearts? The bits you wrote about memory and hearts made me think of her. If I'm right, let me just say that she's my favorite character. I think she deserves more time in the new games (if they give her any at all >.>) and she should end up with Riku. Meh. (Roxas is like a brother... being made from the same people as Namine was, you know? Haha).

Sorry if I got geeky :)

Also, I wanted to say that as one of my online projects, I'm writing a mermaid story. It's serial, so slowly but surely I finish the chapters, but perhaps you might want to read it in your spare time. It's called "Cinnamon." :)

  3. Sea geisha and clockwork samurai, goodness. This is the most original and beautiful thing I have read in ages. The entire Asian theme merged with fairytale/myth, it is truly otherwordly, ethereal. I haven't read anything like this before. But I don't know why I am so astonished by it. I shouldn't expect any less than amazing from you, my dear. This is brilliant. You are the most marvellous storyweaver. xxxx

  4. Oh, wow. I agree with Thea. This is just so so original. I've not read a piece this good for many weeks, and even then, the quality and thoughtfulness wasn't as ardent and acute as this. Just.. amazing. xxxx

  5. Oh, my dear. I am truly at a loss for words. This piece is everything, it has everything anyone could want when they read. Your stories are just brilliant and I cherish the moments that I get to read them, they just send me off to other worlds entirely! Thea, and Joanna are quite right, it is like none other.

    xx and hugs

  6. CloudyKim: I do! <3 Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite games ever, it really made a lasting impression on me. One day, I hope my writing can feel like what that game made me feel. :) I would love to read your story! It might be a few days (am swamped with school work at present), but I will definitely read it. Mermaids are a favorite topic of mine. xx

PS: I read your story about the caged girl a few weeks ago and I found it to be absolutely LOVELY!

Cinnamon: I desperately want to learn Japanese. -_- xxx

Thea: I really, really appreciate your words, star-bird. <3 It has been so difficult to write lately and I really had to push myself to sit down and write something new, but I'm so glad I did! It's kind souls like all of you that keep me going, thank you so very much! xxxx

    Joanna: You lie. xxxxxxxxxxx

Jhordyn Ashley: Thank you for your encouragement and sweet thoughts! You are always such a comfort to me, and your words will forever be close to my heart. xx

  9. Essentially, what it means is: 'Form becomes emptiness, emptiness form.'- The Heart Sutra. It's one of the basic Zen teachings. It's meant to express the non-duality of reality. I wish I could speak it, too! XXX.

  14. Yeah, I don't do religion, it makes my skin crawl! I'm an Atheist, but Zen philosophy just makes so much sense! I like how you're into such a wide variety of things, it helps makes a person more rounded in a sense. Well adjusted, if you get my meaning!

  15. Thank you! :3 Sometimes I think I have too many interests, though, so that I'm a little spread thin and merely average at things.

  16. lovelovelove this.

Not sure about religion myself. I just do not think I could quite worship things. I do believe in solipsism, though.

  17. I don't think religion is so very important as people make it out to be. x
    Thank you, love!
