Chords like ice run down my cheek, hear the drip-drip of this unchained melody slither through the snow, out to bite us. It's not much farther, I think, but my hands are freezing and the little ones' gloves are unraveling at the seams. We run with bells tied to our ankles, antlers on our heads, ball gowns hitched up so we can beat the twilight. It's always like this, but we never really stop sprinting, and dawn is always ever out of the corner of mine eye. Frosts may chill our bones and winds may push me down but I will never stop, never never stop. Because the farther we run, the faster we get to Christmas, just a million years away.

  1. Oh, the picture is sweet and as you are talking about it, I begin to be impatiently waiting for Christmas.
It is my favourite time of the year. You must know that my Mum always hidse little Danish paper "nisses", small little creatures in all the corners of the flat and whenever I stumble upon one, it is the biggest joy!
You sall never grow up, as long as you find joy in around a christmas tree.
    :)

    xx

P.S.: You asked where the second picture of my Peter Pan/Autumn blog entry is from. It is an illustration by Mr Arthur Rackham, who drew some very beautiful scenes in my "Peter Pan" book. (Mostly the scenes with the fairies, which I can understand...) You might know his drawings for "Alice in Wonderland".

  2. Oh, nisses sound perfectly adorible! Like easter eggs, only for Christmas. <3 Christmas trees are so symbolic of childhood, I don't think I would ever get a fake one. Thank you so much for your sweet words. :)

PS: I've been looking for a good Peter Pan book to replace my rickety copy for who know's how long, with illustrations and the like. Yours sounds to die for, and I`m awfully jealous. :) xxx

  4. I really like this! It seems dark... like they're headed towards some kind of doom. But then it turns out they're headed towards something wonderful.

Speaking of which, I am so ready for Christmas! I keep watching movies or reading books set at Christmastime and it just makes me ache for it to be that time of year!

  5. Well, they are heading towards Christmas, but if you read carefully there are clues that tell you they will never reach it.

Oh, same! And Halloween, which brings back so many memories (maybe even more so than Christmas. Thank you, as always, for your words deer. xxx

  6. Ah yes, indeed! Goodness, my brain forgot by the time it reached the comment box. So, make that: it's dark all the way through - but still they cling to the hope of Christmas! Hehe. :)

Halloween! That holds many pleasant memories as well.
    You are very welcome. :)

  7. Oh, Wendy. I am so glad to know you; your words. That sentence of chilled bones but never ceasing is one that I will remember for a long time, I'd like to keep it in my heart and play it back on cold nights of apathy.
Beautiful, dearest, your blog is always exquisite. xxx

  9. Your blog never fails to make me smile, however hurt my heart ever so slightly. You have such a soul that I myself cannot comprehend, I am instead just mesmerized at the simply beauty of you. You are so wild and free, but you are hurt, I feel too, and I can feel it. The words you left me on my blog could not be more right, and I thank you for saying them to me, because they were exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you, beautiful.

  10. That is so so kind for both of you to say, my eyes are welling up with tears. It has been so long since someone said things like that to me, and really ment it. Actually, I don't think anyone has ever said things like that to me. I think I am hurt.. as you say, Norah, and it's nice that someone besides myself sees that, I don't like pretending. You both are wonderful and of course I wouldn't mind, Athena, thank you so much! <3 xxx

It's so nice to hear from you again, but don't be sorry, I am the same way lately. School vacuums the magic out of you, so that you post and read less and less.

PS: Thanks for adding me on goodreads. :)
